Nigeria have named Samson Siasia as their coach to succeed former manager Lars Lagerback.

The 43-year-old will take the reins of the Super Eagles after a spell as Nigeria Under-20s boss.

Chris Green, a lawyer for the Nigerian Football Federation's executive committee has confirmed that a contract will be finalised in the next few days.

Siasia earned 46 caps for Nigeria during his playing days as a striker, and represented his country at the 1994 World Cup.

Nigeria's national team has been rocked by corruption allegations and produced a poor World Cup performance this summer.

The African outfit fired coach Shaibu Amodu in February and hired Swedish coach Lagerback to take charge four months before the start of the World Cup.
