If Chelsea wish to reunite with current Turkey coach, Guus Hiddink, they are in for a fight, the head of the Turkish FA has warned.
Just when it seemed Guus Hiddink's move back to Stamford Bridge was all but assured, Mahmut Ozgener has hit back, warning the Blues against making an illegal approach for their coach.
"Chelsea has a past record for signing players who are under contract, and if the same thing happens, we will make a file of the payments we made to Hiddink and we will go to FIFA," Ozenger told Turkish paper Hurriyet.
Ozenger's caution follows growing speculation that Hiddink will succeed Carlo Ancelotti in the top job next season.
"I feel energetic and I like working every day. I feel I need to do more, so a club role is more preferable than coaching a national team," Hiddink last week told The Guardian newspaper in London.
"I haven't told the president of the Turkish FA. But he is an intelligent man and I'm sure he follows the world's media. There is no official offer yet, so I cannot guarantee anything."
But Ozenger did not take kindly to those comments.
"After the Belgium game I went to the dressing room and asked Hiddink what he will do. He replied, 'I will go to Turkey's B team match and then go to South Korea for a charity match'. But after that I learned he said different things to the players. He should have told me what he told the players.
"You cannot come to Turkey and then leave when you want."
