A DAY OF ACTION AT THE CANADIAN GP
F1 - Jenson Button secured his first win of the season today after passing defending Sebastian Vettel on the final lap of an extraordinary, rain-delayed and crash-hit Canadian Grand Prix.
The dramatic final lap saw Button eclipse Red Bull pair Vettel, who came second, and Aussie Mark Webber, who grabbed a podium spot with a third-placed finish.
The 31-year-old Englishman, driving his McLaren car after surviving an early collision with teammate Lewis Hamilton, emerged triumphant at the conclusion of an unpredictable race.
And although neither of the McLaren drivers got hurt, Hamilton didn't get off unscathed.
Perhaps his biggest critic, Former world champion Niki Lauda, demanded F1 authorities to do something about Hamilton ASAP.
"What Hamilton did there goes beyond all boundaries,'' Lauda told RTL television.
"He's completely mad. If the FIA does not punish him, I do not understand the world any more.
"At some point there has to be an end to all the jokes. You cannot drive like this - as it will result in someone getting killed.''
Ouch... Lewis, you just got served.
McLEISH PACKS IT IN WITH BIRMINGHAM
SOCCER - Birmingham City's Alex McLeish has resigned as manager just two weeks after the club's relegation from the Premier League.
A statement on the club website said acting chairman Peter Pannu received an email resignation from McLeish while on business in Amsterdam.
Email ehy... well it's better than a text message.
Former Rangers manager McLeish was immediately linked with a move to Birmingham's cross-town rivals, Aston Villa, still in the Barclays Premier League but without a manager following the resignation through ill-health of former France and Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier.
But only time will answer that question.

RAIN ALSO HINDERS QUEEN'S CLUB FINAL
TENNIS - Andy Murray and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will be forced to work overtime in the washed-out battle of the Australian Open finalists at Queen's Club.
Relentless rain meant play was abandoned today without a ball being struck, not even once.
The Championships will go into an eighth day for the first time since 1987, when Boris Becker returned on a Monday to beat Jimmy Connors in the premier Wimbledon lead-up.
John McEnroe managed a similar feat against Victor Pecci in 1979.

STONER ROCKS IN BRITISH MOTOGP
MOTOGP - Casey Stoner defied terrible conditions to win an incident-filled British MotoGP.
And to make things even sweeter, he topped defending champion Jorge Lorenzo in the world championship standings.
Now that's a good outing. Stoner gets his cake and has some too.
The Aussie, who started on pole, mastered a drenched Silverstone circuit to clinch a fourth victory in six rounds, becoming the first Honda rider to win three successive MotoGP races since Italian great Valentino Rossi in 2003.
The 2007 world champion moved 18 points ahead of Lorenzo, who was in second place when he crashed out on the eighth of 20 laps - seconds after teammate Ben Spies also fell.
AUSSIE GETS RUNNER-UP IN TENERIFE
GOLF - Australia's Nikki Garrett finished runner-up in the Tenerife Ladies Match Play tournament after a final round 69.
Garrett finished in a tie for second with Spain's Carlota Ciganda, one shot behind winner Becky Brewerton who shot a four under 68.
After two days of match play, the final round was an 18-hole strokeplay shootout, with Garrett carding four birdies and just one bogey in her round.
The 27-year-old had a chance to draw level with Wale's Brewerton but missed a 15-foot birdie putt on the final green to settle for second with Ciganda.
"It was good. I played really well all week," Garrett said.
Well done Nikki, we're all proud.
DILSHAN OUT OF NEXT TEST AGAINST ENGLAND
CRICKET - Sri Lanka were resigned to being without captain Tillakaratne Dilshan for the upcoming third and final Test against England after rain had the final say in their warm-up match with Essex.
Hmm... it seems rain is mucking around with everything at the moment.
The bad weather at Chelmsford on Sunday's third and final day meant only 12 overs' play was possible before a draw was agreed.
Dilshan was sitting out the match after suffering a broken thumb when hit twice by England fast bowler Chris Tremlett while making 193 - the highest Test score by a Sri Lankan at Lord's - in the drawn second Test.
The final Test of the series, the first to be staged at Hampshire's Rose Bowl ground, starts on Thursday and Sri Lanka interim coach Stuart Law said: "There is no change at this stage.
But if Dilshan is ruled out, the uncapped Lahiru Thirimanne, who made a century against Essex, is set to take his place.
